Igniting Faith Retreat at Rock Eagle
September 26th - 28th, 2014
Rock Eagle 4H Center, Eatonton, GA
This year is the start of an exciting evolution to our annual UMMen Igniting Faith Retreat as we launch a three part series, beginning with this year’s theme IMPACT!. We are honored to announce Rev. Olu Brown, Lead Pastor, Impact Church, an ordained Clergy in the North Georgia Conference as our Keynote Speaker.
Rev. Brown will bring excitement and passion to the weekend, guiding us as we discover how we ALL can make an IMPACT! Come and hear one of the most beloved and outstanding preachers in Methodism encourage and challenge the men of the North GA Conference.
Rev. Olu Brown is the founder and lead pastor of Impact Church, one of the fastest growing United Methodist congregations in the Atlanta area. He is married to Farrah Brown and they are the proud parents of Daya Brown. A native of Texas, Olu graduated from The Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta and served as Associate Pastor at Cascade United Methodist Church for six years prior to starting Impact Church.
Music during the weekend provided by Casey Darnell, Connexion and Impact Church Praise Teams, Ralph Freeman, and the UMMen Volunteer Choir.
The UMMen Igniting Faith Retreat is open to all men age 14 and up, providing a multi-generational faith experience. Gearing activities and workshops towards our various stages of life the retreat has programs such as rock climbing and zip-lining for our youth, contemporary and traditional worship services, and a multitude of workshops designed for an array of ages and interests. Additionally, there are early morning Bible Studies by the lake, the Upper Room Prayer Line to be staffed each evening and outreach focused Potato Drop, PET® Mobility assembly project, Red Cross Blood donation and canned food drive. Other on-site activities include mini-golf, fishing, tennis and basketball courts, football, hiking trails, and baseball. Participate in the time of Prayer and Fasting at Collinswood Thursday evening September 25th.
The United Methodist Men are beginning a relationship with PET® International to manufacture and assemble hand cranked carts in the North Georgia Conference. These will be shipped to various parts of the world where adults and children are immobile without the use of their legs. These carts provide a means of independent transportation.
At the UMMen Igniting Faith Retreat we will be assembling carts with components manufactured by PET Memphis, an affiliate of PET International. Mark Griffy and volunteers from PET Memphis will be training men in the manufacturing of various components, assembly, testing and packaging carts for shipping and distribution.
