Annual Business Meeting Results
Over 50 men from across North Georgia met at the United Methodist Children's home for the Annual Business Meeting and Leadership Training of the United Methodist Men.
Jasper Russell, President of the North Georgia Conference United Methodist Men called the meeting to order and introduced Bev Cochran, Administrator of the United Methodist Children's Home. Mr. Cochran welcomed the men to the UM Children's Home and provided a brief history. He also lead the group in the opening prayer.
The Business portion of the meeting opened with reports given by the Jasper Russell - President, Gene Bowles - Treasurer, Larry Bryant - Secetary, Harry Clark - Vice President of Membership and Organization, Del Swiger - Vice President of Adminstration and Conference Affairs, and Steve Hart - Hunger Advocate. The Nominations Committee (Norman Johnson - Chairman, Lamar Beard, Paul Michio, James Smith, Harry Clark and Jasper Russell) presented the proposed 2008-2010 United Methodist Men Conference officers for election. The following officers were elected to serve thier two year terms begining July 1, 2008.

Following the Business Meeting, two Leadership Training Sessions were held. James Mullins, UMMen District President, Atlanta-Decatur-Oxford, lead the training session for District Officers, and Cary Loesing, Executive Director, UMMen North Georgia Conference, lead the training session for Local Fellowships.
Following lunch, Steve Hart, Hunger Advocate for the N. GA Conf UMMen, introducted a short video about the work of the Society of St. Andrew. Steve asked the men to provide an offering of just the change in thier pockets. Over $70 was collected which will provide 3500 meals.
Activity reports from District Presidents and local Fellowships were made followed by an interactive exchange of challenges being faced and ideas on how to address them.
The event closed with powerful prayer and sending forth.
