Iglesia El Buen Pastor
Tent Minstry Planned April 24 - May 2, 2009
A Tent Ministry Trip is planned for April 24 - May 3, 2009 at Templo El Buen Pastor.
The purpose of the tent ministry mission is to prepare the community for the construction work on El Buen Pastor that is needed to complete the Christian Center for Camargo.
The team will be lead by Rev. Michael Dunbar (Social Circle UMC) and Ed Pratt (Rock Springs UMC).
The team will arrive on Saturday April 24th, visting the church site and getting orientated. Sunday the team will worship with the congregation at El Buen Pastor and begin preparation for the week. Monday will be a set-up day to prepare for the Tent Ministry activites. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the Tent Minsitry will be carried out, providing services to the local community during the morning and early afternoon hours and evening services each day. Friday will be a tear-down day. The team will return home on Saturday May 2nd.

Project Description
Iglesia El Buen Pastor in Diaz Ordaz, Mexico. It is just across the Rio Grande River (Rio Bravo) from Sullivan City, Texas.
This is the church that has a dire need of a new roof as the structural problems in the roof threaten the integrity of the whole building.
The needed repairs can be carried out by three 15 man teams working back to back over a two week period. This not a conventional tactic. For one, it offers no time for significant interaction with the church members. For another, it is extremely labor intensive--there will likely be long days and little time for VBS or other mission team activities. We are confident this work can be successfully completed as UMMen mission teams have done the truss work and roofing work many times before.
Lastly, the work must be done quickly because the interior of the church is finished and cannot be left open to the weather any longer than necessary. There will be a need for finish work that the congregation may or may not want to do themselves. This would be a great opportunity for us to revisit the church with a finish team and do the conventional UMMen mission trip.
